Ivory Classics 5th Anniversary

Ivory Classics celebrates its 5th Anniversary with a new release that includes nine Ivory Classics artists. The recording dates of these performances (all available on CD for the first time) range from 1939 through the year 2000. Some of the tracks are from concerts and some are studio recordings. The Turina Rapsodia sinfonica Op. 66 and the Paderewski Fantaisie Polonaise Op. 19 are both works for piano and orchestra that feature Grammy Award winning pianist Earl Wild, conducted by Massimo Freccia and Arthur Fiedler respectively. The additional selections are all solo piano works played by pianists Dame Moura Lympany, Nadia Reisenberg, Ruth Slenczynska, Ann Schein, Shura Cherkassky, Ralph Votapek, David Korevaar and 10-year-old prodigy, Albert Wong. This is a unique disc - you will not be able to find these recorded works performed by the above artists on any other label. An interesting and highly unusual release all around! As unusual for Ivory, all selections have been remastered in 24-bit, HDCD encoded sound.Turina Joaquin (1882-1949):[01] Rapsodia Sinfonica Op. 66 piano: Earl Wildorchestra: Royal Philharmonic Orchestraconductor: Massimo FrecciaFrederic Chopin (1810-1849):[02] Mazurka in A minor, Op. 17, No. 4piano: Dame Moura LympanyMaurice Ravel (1875-1937):[03] Toccata from 'Le Tomeau de Couperin'piano: Ralph VotapekFranz Liszt (1811-1886):[04] Etudes d'Execution Transcendante No. 5 'Feux Follets'Frederic Chopin (1810-1849):[05] Waltz No. 8 in A flat major, Op. 64 No. 3piano: Ruth SlenczynskaGabriel Fauré (1845-1924):[06] Barcarolle No. 6 in E flat major, Op. 70[07] Barcarolle No. 8 in E flat major, Op. 96piano: David KorevaarWolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791):Sonata in C major, K. 545[08] 1st Mvt.: Allegro[09] 2nd Mvt.: Andante[10] 3rd Mvt.: Rondo, Allegrettopiano: Ann ScheinFelix Mendelssohn (1809-1847):[11] Song without Words in A minor Op. 38, No. 5piano: Shura CherkasskyMaurice Ravel (1875-1937):[12] Menuet from 'Le Tombeau de Couperin'Sergei Prokofiev (1891-1953):[13] Prelude in C Op. 12 piano: Nadia ReisenbergJohann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837):[14] Rondo in E Flatpiano: Albert WongIgnacy Jan Paderewski (1860-1941):[15] Fantaise Polonaise Op. 19piano: Earl Wildorchestra: London Symphony Orchestraconductor: Arthur Fiedler Producer: Michael Rolland DavisEngineer: Ed ThompsonPiano: Baldwin, Steinway
